๐ญ Webb Telescope Found a Hidden Giant Planet Using Atmospheric Chemistry โ A First
NASA's James Webb Space Telescope discovered a third giant planet in the Beta Pictoris system, just 63 light-years away โ hidden behind a bright disk of cosmic dust. Named Beta Pictoris d, it is at least twice Jupiter's mass and was detected through traces of carbon monoxide, water vapor, and methane in its atmosphere, making it the first exoplanet found this way inside a debris disk. The Beta Pictoris system is only about 23 million years old, giving astronomers a rare live look at a solar system still forming. What else could be lurking unseen in those dust clouds?
