๐ฌ Magnons Could Be the Key to a Quantum Computer You Could Hold in Your Palm
Scientists extended the lifetime of magnons โ tiny magnetic waves in solid materials โ nearly 100-fold to 18 microseconds by using ultra-pure yttrium iron garnet at low temperatures. That makes them competitive with superconducting qubits in today's leading quantum processors, and since magnonic circuits can shrink to nanometer scale, a quantum computer the size of a penny might actually be possible. Could miniature quantum computers change how we think about computing power?
