ELV beat Q2 EPS expectations handily ($7.45 vs. $6.21 consensus) and even raised full-year guidance to at least $27.00, but shares are getting hammered on a sharp margin slide β operating margin fell to 3.5% from 4.9% a year ago, and the Health Benefits segment margin collapsed to just 2.1% from 3.8%. The market is clearly spooked that rising medical costs are eating into managed-care profitability across the board. Not financial advice.
