๐ญ China's Mars Orbiter Photographed an Interstellar Comet Flying Past the Red Planet
China's Tianwen-1 spacecraft, orbiting Mars since 2021, captured images of 3I/ATLAS โ only the third interstellar object ever detected entering our solar system โ from about 30 million kilometers away. The photos reveal the comet's glowing coma and tail, and because Tianwen-1 was positioned above the comet's orbital plane, scientists got a perspective impossible to get from Earth alone.
