๐ญ ESA's Euclid telescope found the 2 oldest quasars ever โ from when the universe was 5% its age
The European Space Agency's Euclid space telescope discovered 31 ancient quasars, including the two earliest ever observed, blazing from a time when the universe was just 670 million years old โ roughly 5% of its current age. These monster galaxy cores, powered by supermassive black holes, shine with the light of a trillion suns. Scientists are puzzled: how did black holes grow so enormous so quickly after the Big Bang? The discovery was published July 6 in Astronomy & Astrophysics.
