Ionis Pharmaceuticals shares cratered more than 17% to around $69 Thursday after the company and partner AstraZeneca disclosed that Wainua (eplontersen) failed its primary endpoint in the CARDIO-TTRansform Phase 3 study โ a 140-week trial targeting transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy. This trial was the cornerstone of Ionis's 2026 growth story, and the miss is brutal. Partner $AZN fell around 9% on the news too. Full data will be presented at the ESC Congress in August.
