๐ NASA is scrapping its space station plan and going straight to building a Moon Base
On August 6, NASA and Northrop Grumman announced they are repurposing hardware originally built for the canceled Lunar Gateway orbital station to instead run surface demo missions at the Moon South Pole. The original Gateway had structural corrosion issues and essentially zero chance of hitting its launch deadline, so NASA is pivoting to Lunar Infrastructure Demo missions that will test power systems capable of surviving the two-week lunar night. It is a sharper, faster path to a permanent base. Do you think humans will be living on the Moon within the next decade?
