NASA's James Webb Space Telescope has found that the ultra-hot exoplanet WASP-121b has strikingly asymmetric atmospheric conditions โ its dawn side and dusk side are completely different from each other. The planet is tidally locked to its star, keeping one face in permanent day and the other in permanent night, which drives extreme atmospheric circulation and wildly uneven chemistry.
